DFS Conference 2006 - Ireland

The 12 trainees were assigned a variety of topics to be presented to an invited audience at the Darley Flying Start Conference at the Keadeen Hotel in Newbridge, Ireland on October 25th 2006. Clodagh Kavanagh opened the conference explaining that the presentations formed part of the Communications module for the trainees. She introduced all of the trainees giving a special welcome to Junling Sun, the first Chinese trainee on Flying Start. About fifty industry people attended including George Mernagh, Tattersalls, Sonia Rogers, Airlie Stud, Maurice Moloney, Coolmore Stud, Jim Kavanagh, IRTA, Dermot Cantillon, Forenaughts Stud and Niamh O’Sullivan, ITBA. After each group of four speakers questions were invited from the floor leading to lively debate and exchange of opinions at times! Joe Osborne closed the conference complimenting the trainees on their performance and thanking those who attended for their support. He assured all in the room that the standard of trainee was improving each year and that the future looks bright and secure for the programme. Following the closing, the trainees and those attending joined in a delicious meal and some welcome drinks.
