Darley Flying Start Application Procedure
Applications for the Darley Flying Start Programme
Applications for the course commencing in August 2010 have now closed. Applications for 2011 will reopen on January 3rd 2011.
Applications must include a hand written cover letter from applicants outlining their career ambitions and reasons why they should be selected for the Darley Flying Start scholarship, application form, transcripts of exam results, an up-to-date and detailed curriculum vitae, application form, and a minimum of three written references and an IELTS Certificate if required, (see below).
Selection Process
During the selection days, in addition to an interview, applicants may be required to carry out practical tasks and/or a written assessments.
Applicants must present the following at time of interview:
- Passport which is valid for at least three years
- Full international driving license.
- Video or photographic evidence of ability to ride a horse at walk, trot and canter.
Successful applicants will be required to undergo a medical examination.

English Language Proficiency
Applicants for whom English is not their first language must include an IELTS result certificate with their application. The required level for selection for Darley Flying Start is IELTS 6.5 which is described as follows:
Proficiency at this level is described as "Can understand a wide range of demanding, longer texts, and recognise implicit meaning. Can express himself/herself fluently and spontaneously without much obvious searching for expressions. Can use language flexibly and effectively for social, academic and professional purposes. Can produce clear, well structured, detailed text on complex subjects, showing controlled use of organisational patterns, connectors and cohesive devices".

Application Dates
