Darley Flying Start Application Procedure

Applications for the 2008 Darley Flying Start Programme

Darley Flying Start ApplicationApplications for the 2008 Darley Flying Start Programme are now closed.

Applications should include a hand written cover letter from applicants outlining their career ambitions and reasons why they should be selected for the Darley Flying Start scholarship, transcripts of exam results, an up-to-date and detailed curriculum vitae, application form and a minimum of three references. Applicants must have a passport which is valid for at least three years from the start of the course as well as a full international driving license. Successful applicants will be required to undergo a medical examination.

English Language Proficiency

Applicants for whom English is not their first language must include an IELTS result certificate with their application. The recommended level for selection for Darley Flying Start is IELTS 6.5 which is described as follows:

ALTE level 4 or IELTS level 6.5 (academic) or Common European Framework level C1

Proficiency at this level is described as "Can understand a wide range of demanding, longer texts, and recognise implicit meaning. Can express himself/herself fluently and spontaneously without much obvious searching for expressions. Can use language flexibly and effectively for social, academic and professional purposes. Can produce clear, well structured, detailed text on complex subjects, showing controlled use of organisational patterns, connectors and cohesive devices".

Application Dates

Applications for the 2008 course will be accepted from 1st January 2008 - 22nd February 2008.
