Requirements:

  • University degree and at least one year full time work experience in the thoroughbred industry or five years relevant work experience in the thoroughbred industry
  • Excellent communication skills
  • In depth knowledge of international thoroughbred industry
  • English language fluency (minimum IELTS 6.5 academic test)
  • Ability to ride a horse at walk, trot and canter
  • Full driving licence
  • Current passport valid for at least three years

Selection Process

During the selection days, in addition to an interview, applicants may be required to carry out practical tasks and/or written assessments. Successful applicants will be required to undergo a medical examination.

English Language Proficiency

Applicants for whom English is not their first language must include an IELTS result certificate (academic test) with their application. The required level for selection for Darley Flying Start is IELTS 6.5 which is described as follows:

"Can understand a wide range of demanding, longer texts, and recognise implicit meaning. Can express himself/herself fluently and spontaneously without much obvious searching for expressions. Can use language flexibly and effectively for social, academic and professional purposes. Can produce clear, well structured, detailed text on complex subjects, showing controlled use of organizational patterns, connectors and cohesive devices".

Exam Transcripts

Transcripts of exam results from school or university must be in English and must be included in the application pack.
