
The average age of graduates is mid to late twenties. Their backgrounds are diverse including marketing, business, horsemanship, administration, law and veterinary medicine. The benefits of their participation on Darley Flying Start are specialisation in the thoroughbred industry, business skills and strong personal development focussing on interpersonal skills, core values, time management and change management.
Trainees completing the programme will have worked hands on with thoroughbred breeding and racing stock under the tutelage of top class horsemen in a number of Darley operations. Trainees complete three full time internships of 4 to 6 weeks each outside of the Darley organisation during the two years on Darley Flying Start.
During the programme, training takes place in Ireland, USA, UK, Dubai and Australia with the option of placements in Japan and New Zealand giving a truly global experience. Trainees are introduced to industry leaders and build relationships for the future on a daily basis. Certification by leading Universities and training providers ensure that high standards of competence are required in order to graduate.
