Ambassadors Lunch 2005
The annual Darley Flying Start Ambassadors Lunch took place at Kildangan House on September 30th 2005.
The annual Darley Flying Start Ambassadors Lunch took place at Kildangan House on September 30th 2005. The gardens looked resplendent on what was a typical Autumn day with brightly coloured leaves on the trees and shrubs around the house. The Darley Flying Start trainees and Darley management were on hand to welcome the Irish and international visitors as they arrived just after noon.
Brian Kavanagh, HRI, and Michael O’Hagan, ITM, represented the Irish industry, with Brendan Lyons and Angela O’Farrell from the Department of Foreign Affairs representing the Irish Government. Mr and Mrs Jonathon Benton represented the American Ambassador for the second year running, and Louise Cox represented the English Embassy. Centre of attention was the Brazilian Ambassador, His Excellency Mr Stelio Marcos Amarante and his wife Mrs Maria Lisa Amarante. It was their first time to visit Kildangan and they were delighted to meet our first Brazilian trainee, Mayra Frederico.
After some light refreshments on arrival, the visitors were brought on a guided bus tour of the stud. They viewed the magnificent red-bricked main yard dating back to 1870, the state-of-the-art foaling unit and seven furlong training track. To conclude the tour, leading stallion King’s Best who resides at Kildangan was paraded at the stallion yard for the guests some of who took the opportunity to take some photos.
On their return to the house, lunch was served in the dining room. Darley Director, Joe Osborne thanked those who attended, making the point that the twelve trainees present would be the ambassadors for Darley Flying Start around the world for the next two years. The guests and trainees then had the opportunity to enjoy their meal and chat about their interests, experiences and expectations. It was a special day for everyone who attended and once again put Darley Flying Start and its trainees in the international spotlight.
