
The trainees are continuing to monitor the development of foals at Stonerside and Gainsborough Farms through their foal shows within the groups each week. At this stage the trainees can notice both positive and negative changes in the conformation of individual foals each week as they grow. Dr Rathgeber gave the trainees a talk on the Care of the Young Foal from Birth to 24 Hours of Age on Monday. As part of their practical training rotations, the trainees are also gaining hands-on foaling experience.
On Tuesday Chris, Katie, Scott and Veer attended the Darley Flying Start display stand at the Equine Initiative Career Fair at the University of Kentucky. They met many interested students and discussed their experiences of the programme with them.
Guest speaker Mimi Porter spoke to the trainees on the topic of Equine Physical Therapy and Jim Philpot of SKO Firm gave them a talk on Horse Transactions. Also this week the trainees visited the Kentucky Horse Park, which gave them the opportunity to increase their knowledge of American Racing history and to see the legendary Cigar.
This week in Dubai the trainees had their final presentations in their I.T. and Human Resource Management modules at the Emirates Academy. They also attended their last session shadowing stewards at Meydan.
They visited the offices of Falcon & Associates where they met with course coordinator Ajay Anne and were given a short brief on the schedule for Dubai World Cup week, which caused plenty of excitement!
