
The second year Darley Flying Start trainees arrived in Dubai on January 3rd having completed the four-month Australian phase of the programme on December 16th. Training will continue in Dubai until March 31st. During this time the trainees will receive tuition and lectures in HR, Finance, Marketing and Website Management at the Emirates Academy of Hospitality Management. They will gain work experience each morning during placements at training stables and attend race meetings at Meydan and Jebel Ali. Following the Dubai World Cup, the trainees will depart Dubai and re-convene in Ireland at Kildangan Stud on April 4th for the final leg of the programme before graduating in July.
German trainee Melanie Sauer will gain experience at Erwan Charpy’s Green Stables and International Stables and Australia’s Brian McGrath will work with Mike de Kock and Mushaba Al Muhairi. Hong Kong’s representative Bill Wong will be placed with Doug Watson at Red Stables and John Hyde at Dubai Stables and Jimmy Unwala from India will be based at International Stables and Satish Seemar. Americans PJ Anthony and Billy Ajello will be based with International Stables, Doug Watson, Satish Seemar and John Hyde. Meagan Jamieson, Australian, will carry out her work placements with John Hyde and with Falcon and Associates. America’s Chance Timm will be with Dhruba Selvaratnam and Neil Bruss and the UK’s Charlie Vaughan-Fowler’s placements are with Mike de Kock and Godolphin. Canadian Sorrel Schoenberger will work with Herman Brown and Godolphin, and Irish trainees Gary King and Mick Buckley will be placed with Green Stables, International Stables, Dhruba Selvaratnam and John Hyde.
