
The trainees attended a Kentucky Thoroughbred Farm Managers Club (KTFMC) meeting where Corey Johnson of Kentucky Downs was guest speaker.
Practical training is ongoing each morning for the trainees, as are their Equine Nutrition classes each Tuesday at the University of Kentucky. They are also continuing with weekly foal shows during which they discuss the conformation and growth of the developing foals. Lectures from guest speakers this week included a talk by Rick Nunnelly of SKO Firm on Property Transactions, an overview of the Care of The Sick Foal with Dr. Nathan Slovis and a History of US Racing and Breeding with Ed Bowen.
Darley USA’s Operations Manager, Olly Tait, hosted a Darley Management Review Meeting with the trainees to discuss decisions and strategy for Darley USA and worldwide over the past month. This was a key learning opportunity for the trainees on Darley structure and management.
The trainees marked the completion of their Finance and Marketing modules with their final presentations this week. They have also completed their I.T. and Human Resource Management modules. Later in the week they had a discussion with trainer Satish Seemar about training and racing in Dubai and the history and culture of Dubai. They visited Godolphin where they were given a run down on all the main horses in the barn were shown the impressive training facilities including the new sea walker by Simon Crisford and Saeed Bin Suroor.
